Savannah, Fireworks, and Chloe

I am blogging again. I am going to think of the bright side and say that I have not blogged for three months because the summer has been so fabulous that I just haven't wanted to take the time... that's a good thing, right?

And also I am looking for brilliant suggestions on what is the best way to schedule in blogging - like is there a certain time you always blog, so it has just become habit? I am talking to you amazing bloggers who hardly miss a week - I really need some advice!

So.... To my Beautiful Daughter Savannah, on your 10th birthday... (which actually occured June 27th - details... details!)

What I love about you:

1. You are absolutely beautiful - inside and out.

2.You are kind - you are always aware of other people's feelings. Compassionate.

3. You are an amazing friend.

4. You are a free-spirit.

5.You are an "old soul" - you have wisdom beyond your age.
6. You pick up on things - you are well aware of what's going on all the time.

7. You know how to be yourself (which if I was one of Sleeping Beauty's fairies blessing you at your birth, is exactly the quality I would have given you.)

8. You are incredible with little children.

9. You are super-duper talented (singing, acting, cheerleading, cake decorating, sewing, dancing, music, taking care of children... seriously!)

10. You are thoughtful - the sweet things you do for all of us - the notes you leave on my bed...

Happy 10th Birthday, Savannah - I love you truly!

4th of July

Sitting on the front porch swing, right before fireworks and after floating down the Boise River on inner tubes. Nick informed us that he officialy was Mutt Jones (Indiana's son) after his tube flipped through some minor rapids and he handled it with true bravery. He also warned us of those approaching rapids by yelling "Bunnies! Watch out for the bunnies!" (it took Jake interpreting for him to figure out that he thought rapids were actually called rabbits)

This year we went downtown to Ann Morrison Park to watch Fireworks. It was AMAZING!

This is Clara as soon as the fireworks began. She went facedown inside the blanket until they were over. Did not move a muscle. Incredible - I have not seen her that still for that long - well, ever. Fireworks apparently is the key. Who knew?

The other kids mesmerized by the fireworks. Magic.

Just a random picture of Clara.

And...Introducing Chloe!

This is our new bunny, which Jake (with some help from Savannah) used all of his birthday money for.

You might be wondering why all of the pictures also feature Clara. That is because that is how Chloe lives her life. In Clara's arms. Clara has not really let her out of her sight or arms since we've had her.

Clara truly loves animals with all of her heart. She can't resist them - anywhere and any kind. Sometimes it's in a "Lenny-from-Of-Mice-and-Men" kind of way, but so far Chloe has survived, and actually seems attached to Clara. At least she doesn't run away from her. Hopefully it's not because she is frozen in fear.

And that's our Summer Part 1. Hopefully I'll get the rest of July posted soon. Thanks for reading!

Okay, don't think that you can be absent for months, do one post claiming to be "blogging again" and think I'm going to forgive you for depriving me of reading your fun posts! ;)
Happy Birthday Savannah! LOVED the cake!
I think you need to invest in some fireworks for days when Clara is extra busy, lol

Ahhh...I can go to bed in peace knowing that I have laughed again this month in praise of you~ my dear friend. Your humor in this blog is what draws me in more than anything else...though I love your little people too.

Advice on the blogging?...hmm...I have in fact found something that has helped me. All I know is that I can't blog at night. Weird right?. I think it's because I get so tired and the blog takes so long (depending on picture upload) that if it's late at night I end up cursing the blog (literally... real bad words...uh huh) and it becomes an old despised enemy. (Poor thing). Therefore...no nightly blogging for Napes. It took a few nights of up til 1 a.m. and GROUCHY mom the next day to realize this. Well, and that one time I swore so loud I woke the kids up. :) That's all I've got for you.

Lame.
Glad you're back.

I am glad you are back! However, I am not one to talk...hopefully I can get some good tips from these comments :)
Savannah, you are one amazing girl! We love you so much :) All I can say is watch out boys when this girl hits 16! I like Chad's philosophy of scaring boys, "Whatever you do to her, I will do to you." Todd and I have been laughing about that all weekend!
It was so wonderful to escape and spend some time with you guys this weekend!

Welcome back to the blogging world. Woohoo!! Looks like you guys have had a pretty fun summer! I have been way lame in my blogging duties also, we have just been having so much fun this summer. I am sad that it is now over...boo hoo.

I have found that Sundays are a good blogging day. Usually the girls are mellow and I can take a few moments to sit and blog. Its a great relaxing sunday activity. (that is if all my pictures upload and go in the correct spots...hee hee)

YAY! You are back! Like everyone else, I love your posts! Happy late Birthday to Savannah. My mom has always told me that I am an old soul too. Don't know if I am, but I have always loved her telling me that.

BLogging advice...I pretty much waste a lot of time with my blog, and it is my constant battle as to whether to quit or not. I use to blog just on Sundays while Shawn took a nap or something about the week, but then the post took so long to upload pictures. I hate blogging anything with tons of pictures, because that is what takes the longest. I love blogging more of the everyday things, so I just try to focus on some of those moments and blog whenever I can that day. I make Shawn promise me that he will take all my posts and make a book (I delegated that to him), so that this really is our family journal and not just me wasting away time. Hopefully it happens and we will all be glad one day. Let me Know what you decide to do though.

Hi Tyla,

Sorry for contacting you through your comments section but I couldn't find an email address on your blog. I'm contacting you because I'm trying to get the word out about my new site: www.MommyGiggles.com.

Mommy Giggles is a site where moms submit funny pictures to share with other moms to get a giggle out of. They can either be pictures of their kids or of other hilarious “mommy moments”

I am contacting you to see if you have a funny picture that I could post – we would of course give you the credit, and also post your blog (if you want). There is also a $25 Amazon Gift card drawing to everyone who submits a photo each month.

I would also appreciate if you could spread the word about Mommy Giggles to other moms too!

Hope you will get a “giggle” out of the site.

Warmest Regards,

Heather Matthews
